Abdellatif Imani spent a large part of his career with Groupe Société Générale in Paris, where he worked in its Risk Management department before joining its Alternative Asset Management subsidiary (SGAM AI), where he served as Partner within its private equity practice. Responsible for launching and managing Société Générale’s private equity operations in North Africa, A. Imani also served on the Board of several private equity funds and companies across North Africa, including in the fields of energy, agribusiness and packaging.
Since 1998, in his capacity as Financial Analyst in the office of the CEO then as Project Manager in the Risk Management department, Mr. Imani led a number of modelling and risk management assignments (credit, market and operational risks) involving several rating methodologies, corporate valuation techniques and infrastructure project structurings. Mr. Imani was also responsible for several projects relating to the allocation of the bank’s economic and regulatory capital and in the 2000-2003 period, was among the most active members of several international banking lobbying groups (Institute of International Finance, International Swaps & Derivatives Association, Fédération des Banques Françaises), for which he led several negotiations with the financial regulators. Subsequently, during his tenure at SGAM Private Equity in Paris, Mr. Imani led the structuring, the capital raise and the management of two private equity funds, Kantara et Oléa Capital (€150 million and 1,8 billion dirhams, respectively). Mr. Imani’s private equity experience allowed him to develop solid relationships with numerous large corporations and SMEs across North Africa and gain significant exposure to the industrial and financial dynamics in the region. The success of the several PE capital raisings he managed is a strong testimony of Mr. Imani’s capacity to deliver some of the largest Moroccan and international institutional investors to his investment banking clients.
Thereafter, Abdellatif Imani co-founded Ascent Capital Partners, an independent investment bank based in Casablanca. Mr. Imani is a graduate of Supélec Paris and holds an MBA from INSEAD. He also holds a Master’s of Science in Finance & Economics from the London School of Economics and a post-graduate degree in Probability & Finance from Ecole Polytechnique de Paris and Université Paris VI.
